Macro Gerber Daisy

Yay finally I am the owner of a true macro lens. I bought the 40 mm macro for my Nikon

I knew macro was a bit more difficult than just aiming and shooting but my its really hard work.

I have learned four things already

1. always use a tripod
2. never work when it is windy
3. plan to make lots of images cuz you will delete alot
and
4. be very patient

So with all that being said.....go easy on me, remember I am still learning.

It's best if you view it full screen.

I will be practicing alot more this week.  Any advice and tips is most welcome.

And there's almost ALWAYS a wind. :-)

That's gorgeous! Congratulations on the new lens! You can give focus stacking a try now. A piece of cardboard or light wood makes a good windbreak.

As a starting point for macro I think your tips are as good as nay I have seen - with the 'take a lot of pictures' being the most realistic!

Truly beautiful photo!

Hi Felicia, Wow, I love this shot! Very nice. And yes, it is viewed wonderfully on full screen. I appreciate your mentioning this because recently I have been thinking about the way so many people now view almost everything on their smartphones. Although that works, it certainly leaves a lot to be desired to enjoy the artistic value of great photos. Your 4 tips for macro photography are excellent. Thank you for sharing and for your kind comments on my blog. Always a pleasure to hear from you.

Wow, that is a great shot. Macro lenses can be very difficult. I used one for a while, but realized all the things you listed, must use tripod, and they focus on such a small area I gave it up! You are doing good!

This is marvelous, Felicia!!! What a beauty - and such wonderful colors.
Macro photography indeed is a bit different - and yes, more difficult, I agree. I usually delete a lot. My hubby just gave me a new macro, the same that I used when I still used film, and I love it. But darn, I forgot how difficult it can be. But also, how much fun!
