Our First Snow

We had our first measurable snow the day before Thanksgiving.

It was wet heavy snow that stuck to the trees. I made bunches of images.

I'm sharing a few of my favorites today.

This first image was made Wednesday, Nov. 26th.  I have to show you another comparison image that I had not gotten around to sharing yet.

It was made Sept. 30th.  It is taken from almost the same vantage point, except I was sitting on the ground and a little more off to the left or I would have been sitting in the middle of the road.

On a side note I have so many fall images that I would like to share yet...someday.

The next 3 images were made Thanksgiving Day after it was done snowing.

This one is my very favorite.  There's a story to this one.

I almost missed this image.

I was on my way to another spot to make an image and I knew I had one shot left on the battery.  I had exhausted my one battery. I had my other one with me and when I popped it in the camera I realized it did not have a full charge because I had forgotten to put it on the charger previously.

Now this has happened to me before so I knew I had one shot on the battery from the indicator.  As I was driving to where I wanted to go I caught this scene out of the corner of my eye and I immediately envisioned the image,  so I turned around and went back.

I knew I had one chance to get it, at least that day.  I composed as carefully as I could and pressed the shutter and the battery indicator started blinking, which meant the battery was exhausted.....but I had my image.

What really lovely photos. I love both the fall one and the snowy ones. I only like winter when the snow has made things pretty!

Gorgeous! I like the red against the snow, but I have to say the last one is probably my favorite. Really nice!

You can never have too many spare batteries. :-)

That last shot was well worth to take on the exhausted battery. Love it! The red building just pops with the white snow. All gorgeous shots!

You sure did pull that last one through. Amazing how the first snow of the year can come in near blizzard form! The same thing happened around here, a couple of weeks ago now, 16 inches in many places. I agree about the postcard quality, great Christmas cards in the making!

Some perfect images of the snow. I can't imagine why you weren't sitting down for that first shot! I once abandoned a trip when the camera battery ran out, only to remember, when I got home, that I had a fully charged spare battery with me all along!

great photos...love you lucky find and the comparison shots! you got more snow than we did that day!
Very beautiful images Felicia!
These are all fantastic :)
I would have loved to play with the last two pictures, I would have turned them all grey except for the red buildings :))
And I wouldn't mind at all, if you would put some nice fall pictures at the end of the next posts - as a warm up :D

Oh my...what breathtaking images, Felicia! Snow on Thanksgiving is almost as good as snow on Christmas! One thing I noticed is how cleared the road was already! That would never happen here in NC...lol...I am hoping we get some!

That last shot is a beauty! The whole series is a fine capture of the first snow. It's fun to see the autumn image for a comparison.

Pretty images of the snow. It's snowing right now in Minnesota and dark and gloomy. I'm wondering where you are located.

Makes me want to break out in song...either over the river and through the woods...or perhaps O Christmas Tree...

Wow. Extraordinary beauty.

Even though I hate being cold, snow does give us some wonderful scenes! What beauties you captured.

Gorgeous! That first image I'd love to see in all four seasons. Those are fantastic. What a drastic difference just a few weeks made. The last shot is so perfectly composed and I can understand why it is your favorite. Sometimes I think if we slow down it will greatly benefit our image making. :)

Yes, it's truly heavy snow. I don't like that but it looks so pretty on your pictures.

And the last picture is my favorite also.

Fantastic shots--so glad I popped over so I got to see them. Yes, the last one is quite wonderful.
Beautiful images! The next to last one is my personal favorite, although I really like the storyline of the last image.

I am glad your battery allowed you this last one shot. Beautiful. As are your other images. I have enjoyed my visit to the snow today from summer in Australia. Amazing the difference between your first winter and autumn shots.
Have a wonderful week and thank you for stopping by my blog this week.

I'm not a big fan of snow, but it makes for great pictures! The fall shot is pretty, too. So colorful. Glad you got that one shot, or we'd have missed that lovely scene.

Beautiful group of images, you definitely have several greeting or post card worthy pictures in this post!
Snow makes everything looks so special. doesn't it, Felicia? All our snow has melted and the foothills look so brown and barren that I am hoping for it to snow again!

I love the photo with the red barn among the snowy trees and ground--that could be a Christmas card!
Wonderful snowy images Felicia, they all would make the most magical Christmas cards!
