A Surprise Sighting

We had a few thunderstorms rumble through the area today which made for some moody skies and great light.

I was making images of the beautiful trees when I had a surprise sighting.

I've been wanting to see him, but I was not expecting it......I should have been right, because that's when you see them.

He flew into a tree right in front of me.

I made one step to see if I could possibly get closer. I should have known better so I snapped away anyhow.

The images are not good at all. He was still a distance away and I only had the 18-70 zoom on. So they are grainy from being cropped but I am pleased somewhat with how they turned out.

Linking with Stewart at WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY.

I'm still so excited about seeing him.

now Felicia, I have to lecture you! The last shot is probably the best one I have seen from you. Maybe not as a "perfect" birdshot but as a very attractve piece of art. :) I for one, love it!

Oh, how awesome! At least you captured him! Any day I see an eagle is a good day...when I was a kid, I didn't even dream of seeing one.

Great capture as a grainy eagle is better than no eagle!

It was quite obvious what you saw--and sometimes, that's what matters.

The last shot has such pretty colors in the sky, and a feeling of the power of the eagle and motion.
