Fort Roberdeau Fences

On Tuesday I posted about my visit to Fort Roberdeau, a replica of a fort that was built during the American Revolution to protect a lead mining operation.

If you are interested you can read about it HERE.

The had alot of the classic rail fences around the property so I thought I would share them on Theresa's
Good Fences meme.

Make sure you stop over to RUN AROUND RANCH for GOOD FENCES.

i love these types of fences, but they wouldn't last long in texas. our ground moves around too much to allow the inserts to stay put. :)

thanks, felicia!

Lovely old fence. There's a beautiful farmhouse I pass each day that has just put up a more modern version of this fence, following a road widening project. Such a lot of work!

These are splendid fence shots, appreciated the close up ones to see the wood grain and textures. A beautiful setting.

Fantastic fences! I love cedar ones like this and have wondered just how they carve the holes in the posts for the rails to slide into. Pretty countryside.

Great fences. I know these take a lot of maintenance, and someone is doing a good job caring for them.
Lovely old fences!! These took a long time to put up and then to keep up!!

Beautiful old fences Felicia, can you imagine the time and energy it would have taken to build those 'back in the day'?

So many fences, most split rail ---I like these because they seem to blend so well with the landscape. They aren't perfect, but they look more natural than a perfect, white, plastic fence.
