A Walk Around my Yard

A few things spotted around my yard the last few weeks.

The flowers are growing pretty well since the rabbits quit eating them.

spotted my first katy did. she's hanging upside down on the deck rail.

this THING was on my plant stand, have no idea what it is but boy is he UGLY.

The hummers are keeping the feeders empty.

This little guy (toad - 1 inch) is eating the bugs in the garden.

 The bees like my salvia.

The knockout roses.....well they are knockout beautiful.

and the old barn is still standing after many long years.

All is well in Central Pennsylvania.

Nice collection. I really like your frog and your barn. Wish I had a frog (or toad?) in my yard. We get cats and sometimes ground hogs. Maybe a deer who eats hostas and tulips ...

That one ugly bug reminds me of the milkweed assassin bug, but this one looks fuzzy. Hmmm! Nice set of images.

These are some really nice photos. It's good to have so many bugs in the garden - I still don't have any toads here, it's probably way too dry. The barn is beautiful.

I think that the "thing" is an Assassin Bug - as its name suggests, it's a predator. Nice picture.

PS: the door curtain has me baffled as well!

Another great series of photos Felicia, I love them all. I've also developed an appreciation and fascination for the bug world since I have been seeing such close ups such as these. That unidentified bug reminds me very much of a Wheel Bug without the 'wheel'. If you do a Google search under that name in images, you can get a ton of photos of them. I took a photo of one a long time back and I remember Abe Lincoln telling me what it was and that it has a nasty bite so not to try and pick it up, not that I was thinking about it ;) but others might want to investigate closer.

Just this second found an image just like this one. It looks like a Wheel Bug nymph. You can find info here: http://www2.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/ef426.asp
