A Macro What is It

Found this lying on the sidewalk under a tree in a local town.

I have no idea what it is but it makes a cool macro image.

It's from a sweet gum tree and does, indeed, make a splendid macro shot.

Its definitely a seed capsule, but I never saw it lying under German trees. It looks like a spiked mace of a squirrel... ;-)
Uwe.
It is a really interesting subject, and your macro shots are wonderful!
an interesting object with fine details!
Just wonderful with this special form and color.

Yep, sweet gum. As kids, we would glue these on to a circular form for a Christmas wreath!

Oh my goodnes...I will send you as many of these that you would like! They come out of the oak trees and our yard if FULL of them in the fall...they are quite unique little things but really a nuisance too...lol!

Yes, agree it is sweet gum! The squirrels around here like to eat something inside them. Great macro. :)

Great shots of what we always called gumballs. They have such an interesting structure.

Very nice macros!
Isn't it cool the way digital photography (and blogging and memes) help us learn to see the interest and beauty in little things we probably used to just overlook.

This was a wonderful find.

Those are affectionately (not exactly) termed gum balls here. Anyone who has ever stepped on one barefoot will remember the experience for a long time to come. You made it look pretty with your macro. :)
Fabulous textures Felicia, whatever it is!
