Wild Phlox

Hello friends. In late spring in our rural part of Central Pa there is a wildflower that blooms in the fields and along the roadside.

It is called Phlox. You can actually buy it at nurseries to plant in your garden too but there is so much of it here you can just go out and dig it up.

I'll start by showing you a wide angle capture so you can see how it grows.

Click on pics to make them bigger if you want.

This field actually had alot more in last year, I think our hard winter maybe killed some of it.

Now here are some closeup's of the delicate petals.

A pretty darker lavender. You can see how some petals are darker even than others.

 A few white stripes

These are mostly white with a touch of lavender

Here you can really see how they are cross pollinating and are lavender and white.

They even grown in wooded areas.  They are gone too soon though, so I'm glad I have captued these images to remember.

I'm linking today with Our World Tuesday and
Today's Flowers.

Stop over and visit each blog to see other beautiful photos. Thanks for stopping by. I have some other interesting wildflowers to show you the next time.

Okay, let me try again...

These wildflowers are gorgeous no matter what color they are. I enjoyed seeing the wide angle shot of the area, too. Reminds me of oxalis that grows wild here. Thanks for sharing!
