Egg Hill Church

A few miles from my house in Central Pa. sits an old clapboard church and cemetery.

This is Egg Hill Church, so named because the church sits at the base of a mountain named Egg Hill by locals because it resembles an egg. The church was built in the 1860's and used till about the 1920's. It is said to be haunted because supposedly a pastor murdered some or all of the congregation and buried them in the adjoining cemetery and then hung himself in the bell tower.

I have been there a few times to make photo's. I do not stick around long enough to find out if the legends are true or not. Would you?

If you google it you will find all kinds of stuff. There is even a documentary on youtube.

So do you think its possible its haunted?

Stop over and check out other cool things and places.

I would not be sticking around long enough to find out. But love what you have done in some of the treatments of these photos. It is a beautiful building with that old wood.
I would not stick around, either! But I did enjoy your photos!
Creepy history but I do like the weathered exterior of the church. Nice series!

Beautiful shots of the old church surrounded by fall leaves. Interesting story....I don't believe in ghosts but if what happened is true I can see why no one would want to hang around.

Wow, great shots of the old building!
I like the colors of weathered wood and would stay there for a while. But perhaps better not find out if legend is true... -

What a wonderful old building, love the black and white photo! I'm not sure if it is haunted but it certainly looks spooky, don't think I'd hang around there at night!

First off, beautiful old building in a beautiful stting. Interesting story. I would only hang around if I wasn't alone and there was plenty of bright sunshine. Not alone and certainly NOT at night. I work in an old courthouse that I guarantee has its ghosts. I go in early a lot and I'm the only one there. I have ear buds and music and still hear noises. All employees have their ghost stories, even the Judge. Thanks for linking up!

Great looking building - we create ghosts in our own minds I think.

Love these photos! You really captured the spookiness of the place. Yes, I'd probably stick around to see if anything weird takes place. Louisiana is full of haunted houses--churches, though, that's a new one on me.
Beautiful shots and no I would not stick around long waiting for scary apparitions : )
Like you, I posted an old beautiful, but abandoned building. I think it's because this is a church that all those rumors spring up like wildfire. It would be extremely sad if that rumor would be truth:(:(

oh wow, what a story attached to this great old place! i do believe it could be haunted because i believe in stuff like that...if i'd stick around?....hmmm, depends on how far off the beaten road this is! if civilization is right there, i'd hang around but if it's a hike into the woods...noooo way!

Wonderful old church building. It's definitely a place I'd like to see, but not too sure about venturing too far from the car!
The church itself looks spooky (even without the legend). You are brave even to get near enough to take pictures of it.
