Big Valley

To the south of my home over the 7 mountains, lies a rural farming valley called the Big Valley.

Most of the farms that lie in this wide valley are Amish farms.

This is a very scenic valley to drive through and in fact it was in this valley that the famed photographer Bill Coleman captured some of his famous Amish photos.

Anyway, I was driving through the valley one day in the early fall when I came upon this scene.

Something about they way the field of soybeans lead my eye toward the barn peeking over the horizon just captured my attention so I pulled over and shot a couple of pics. I am sharing one.

Ahh I do love a good field of soy beans in the fall when they turn golden and that red barn just adds perfection!!

I love taking a ride in the country. Traveling from NY to PA to see my daughter can be a scenic trip.. Except in a blizzard... Thank you for linking into Nature Notes... Michelle

This is very nice. Love the yellow field - it makes the red barn pop out nicely.

Hi Felicia,
in Black & White the field seems a little bit mysterious ...

Both are nice, can't pick a favorite. The b/w has texture and agree with comment before me, mysterious. The color one is so beautifully vibrant.

Fabulous photo - I love the way things show up differently in black and white.
A beautiful, classic shot! I think there was an old TV show called The Big Valley, although different location (it was a western!).

I do love scenes that make us loose our sense of time - spotting something that's probably been the same for so many years and, yet, is still so full of beauty and energy! This is gorgeous! The top pic might represent today's digital photo sharing and the black and white could be an old time postcard...or homestead photo! Thanks so much for linking up!

Beautiful idyllic scene, both in color and black and white.
Great composition Felicia and wasn't there a TV series called Big Valley?
